Well, due to some spammer having found this obscure blog, I have been forced to refuse Anonymous posts. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for legitimate posters, but since I am unable to send feedback to the offending servers causing them to explode and burst into flames - well, I do what I can. Obama Wins Gold Medal in Free-Style Flip-Flopping

Just one month ago...

"Obama Calls for End of NSA Phone Records Storage

"I am therefore ordering a transition that will end the Section 215 bulk metadata program as it currently exists, and establish a mechanism that preserves the capabilities we need without the government holding this bulk meta-data."
-- ABC News, Jan 17, 2014 8:48am"

Then, today...

"Obama Officials Seek to Hold NSA Phone Records Longer

The Obama administration has asked a special court for approval to hold on to National Security Agency phone records for a longer period.
-- Wall Street Journal, Feb. 26, 2014 2:39 p.m. ET"

Only in this White House can a program be ended by keeping it longer.

Judge: Va. same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional

I'm wondering; where does it say that heterosexual marriages are a constitutional right?

My version of the Constitution lists no such federally-protected or guaranteed right.

This judge fails to demonstrate how marriage - any marriage - is a right.

Marriages are a consensual agreement between two people. In order to be married, one must have a partner willing to marry. If marriage is a RIGHT, then how is it satisfied if one is unable to find a partner willing to join in marriage?

In order to guarantee that "right" to marry, a partner must be found and forced to consent.

How is that a "right?"

Answer, it is not.

There is no right to marriage, same or mixed-sex.

What there is, is a PRIVILEGE to marry. That being the case, the authority granting the PRIVILEGE is entitled to have any rules it likes governing the act.

The precedent of marriage is that it is mixed-sex. There is no more resounding substantiation of this fact than the term, "same-sex," or "homosexual" marriage. There is no term, "mixed-sex" marriage, unless it is being used specifically in the company of homosexual topics. The default, societally understood definition of "marriage" is that of a mixed-sex couple. It requires no modification.

So, the term "marriage" is preempted. Find something else.

If a same-sex couple wants to share in the state-sanctioned benefits automatically obtained by marriage, then let them be joined in a civil union that confers equal privileges. However, the term "marriage" is taken.

OMG, Are They Serious?

The Congressional Budget Office released a report stating that Obamacare will cause some 2 million Americans to lose their jobs.

What does Obama say?

According to White House chief economic adviser Jason Furman, the reduction is positive because it means Americans will forgo jobs or extra work to stay home with their kids.

So, you got fired, that's OK. Now, you can stay home! Never mind about those pesky bills and putting food on the table for those kids.

Common Core

I ran across this Common Core screen shot and thought I'd share it;

This is from the answer key for a homework assignment from Common Core for 3rd grade grammar. Note the propagandist nature of the page.

But, that aside, take a look at Numbers 4, 5 and 6.

#4: "He makes sure the country's laws are fair."

No, he doesn't. If anyone, that would be the supreme Court's job.

#5: "Government officials' commands must be obeyed by all."

What?!? This is not Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, Communist China, or any other dictatorial nations. LAWS must be obeyed by all, not some command given by some government flunkie.

And, finally;

#6: "An individual's wants are less important than the nation's well-being."

Nothing like subverting third graders into accepting communism and socialism.

Does anyone wonder why this teaching method was pushed out under Obama?

Militarization of Police

Having worked for the Dallas Police, I tend to defend police in general, having experienced them from the inside. Yes, there are some bad cops, but I think the vast majority are doing the best they can in a thankless job.

However, there are intolerable extremes and this article exemplifies a few of them.

Firstly, never, ever, in a thousand years never should a police officer on duty have his face covered or identity in any way concealed. An undercover cop infiltrating a gang is an exception, but only barely. However, no officer executing a warrant of any kind should enjoy any level of anonymity. This includes unmarked police cars. No officer empowered to apprehend a citizen should have his identity concealed by hiding the fact that he is in a police vehicle. The element of secrecy should not be a part of a police officer's tool kit.

Secondly, the so-called "no-knock" raids should be done away with except in blatantly clear incidents where it can be clearly and without a doubt demonstrated that officers had a true need for such a raid. Further, after such a raid is conducted, it should, in all cases, be reviewed by a civilian panel selected along the lines of a jury to decide the propriety of the tactic. If the panel finds it to have been unnecessary, then no evidence gained thereby can be admitted and the police must pay for all damages to the property along with a certain percentage punitive penalty.

Thirdly, the "militarization" of police forces must be brought to an immediate and shrieking halt. Police should be no better armed or protected than the civilians from whom they are chosen. The wearing of military gear and the adoption of military tactics must cease. These people are hired to enforce the law, not invade a beach head, and their training, tools and tactics must reflect this.

These changes may hinder the smooth operation of a police mission, but so be it. They are our EMPLOYEES, not our superiors. Their job may be made harder, but that's the price of liberty - something this nation is sorely lacking.
