First One Story...

...then another;

Global warming may spur wind shear, sap hurricanes

MIAMI (Reuters) - Global warming could increase a climate phenomenon known as wind shear that inhibits Atlantic hurricanes, a potentially positive result of climate change, according to new research released on Tuesday.

The study, to be published on Wednesday in Geophysical Research Letters, found that climate model simulations show a "robust increase" in wind shear in the tropical Atlantic during the 21st century from global warming.
==================================

The story was that global warming was to bring a strong '06 hurricane season.

Now - maybe because the predictions proved to be so utterly inaccurate - global warming is going to "inhibit" hurricanes.

"Global warming is gonna freeze us!"
"No, wait, it's gonna cook us!"

"Global warming's gonna make worse hurricanes!"
"No, wait, it'll stop hurricanes!"

As Tommy Flanagan would say, "Yeah... That's the ticket!"

Tax Day Is A-Comin'

But, this year, we get an extra day.

Ain't the IRS gracious?

Anyway, I wonder how long we'd have income taxes if we didn't have painless withholding by our employers?

What would be the reaction of the tax payer, if we had to actually write checks to the government personally, rather than the easy route of our employers just not giving it to us in the first place?

I'm willing to bet that a lot of government programs would be axed in a real hurry, if we had to pay our taxes out of our own bank accounts...

Wait A Minute...

So, now, Global Warming is going to cool us?

Climate change

There is "compelling evidence" to indicate that climate change is occurring and that the atmosphere will continue to warm at an unprecedented rate throughout the 21st century. It could lead to a reduction in north Atlantic salinity by increasing the freshwater runoff from the Arctic. This could affect the natural circulation of the north Atlantic by diminishing the warming effect of ocean currents on western Europe. "The drop in temperature might exceed that of the miniature ice age of the 17th and 18th centuries."
===========================

So, which computer model are we to believe? The one that says global warming is gonna heat us up and make deserts out of Palm Springs?

Or, the one that says we'll have an ice age?

Sheesh...

I will cede that there is ONE aspect of global warming that Man has control over - the panicky jitters. Ya know, the ones that sell ad-space...

13-Year-Old Arrested In School For Writing On Desk

Principal Urges Cops To Arrest Girl For Writing 'Okay'

Tanya Rivero
Reporting

(CBS) NEW YORK In this day and age where young students are frequently charged for serious school offenses such as possessing weapons, dealing drugs, or assaulting other students on school property, one Brooklyn teen's arrest may come as a surprise. A 13-year-old girl was handcuffed and placed under arrest in front of her classmates in Dyker Heights after she wrote "Okay" on her desk.

Now, what th'?

This is ridiculous.

This principle who insisted on arresting this girl needs to be put under professional care. He is a threat to the well-being of the student population.

Probably another case of zero-tolerance gone stupid.
